He resents her for spending time at university with her new friends, he suspects she is having affair. He breaks his promise of keeping the pregnancy a secret, Kirsty starts to feel more at ease about the baby. Their relationship becomes strained and Kirsty's mother Shelley convinces her to run away to the city with her.
Miles becomes good friends with Elijah Johnson (Jay Laga'aia) and he goes to Africa with him. He then gets drunk and kisses Roo Stewart and wakes up next to her in the morning. He later confesses his love to Leah and they start a relationship.
Several days later, Kirsty takes Ollie out of hospital and attempts to flee after Kane's failed Robbery attempt. There is a police chase but Kane drops them back at Irene's and is arrested and jailed. Jade Sutherland Oliver "Ollie" Phillips is the son of Kirsty and Kane Phillips . Melody tries to seduce Geoff at a Halloween party by kissing him which Nicole witnesses. Nicole, angry reveals that she had slept with Geoff, leaving Melody saddened. When he left the series, Sarah Ellis of Inside Soap said that Home and Away "won't be the same without Miles' shaggy barnet". Laura Morgan of All About Soap said that she and her colleagues were "in mourning" over Miles' exit.
